Flintlock didn’t start as a business idea.

It started with my 1999 Defender 90 Td5, which I call Flintlock. A few small things bothered me, and most modern solutions simply didn’t feel like they belonged in the car. So I started making my own.

By then, I had already spent years building businesses and had taken one of my own products from an idea, through patenting and production, into a complete fitness ecosystem. That experience taught me how to turn an idea into something that works properly in the real world.

Flintlock grew in much the same way. One part led to another, other Defender owners became interested, and somewhere along the way it became a brand of its own.

What means the most to me is knowing that something which started as a simple idea has found its way to Defender enthusiasts around the world. There’s something genuinely special about creating something that ends up with someone thousands of miles away, simply because we share the same passion for these vehicles.

I’ve always liked things that are simple, useful and made properly. With Defenders, I believe anything you add should respect what is already there, not take away from the character of the vehicle.

That idea still guides everything we make at Flintlock.
